What is Jira tool?

 JIRA is a tool developed by Australian Company Atlassian. It is used for bug tracking, issue tracking, and project management. The name "JIRA" is actually inherited from the Japanese word "Gojira" which means "Godzilla". 

Detailed info : Jira is a bug tracking tool basically which was developed by an Australian company named Atlassian in the year 2002. It is mainly used by Agile developers to customize the workflow and for team collaboration and it releases the application with more confidence. Creating and estimating stories, building a sprint backlog, identifying team commitment and velocity, visualizing team activity, reporting on team progress are all essential aspects of agile planning but sometimes can seem like more work than actually running the project. JIRA is a tracker for teams planning and building great products.               The program works by connecting colleagues, activities, and tools thus enabling them to work more efficiently. Teams choose JIRA to capture and organize issues, assign work, and follow team activity. The application is available at your desk but also with their new mobile interface, you can access JIRA on the go. The idea behind the software is based on the premise that tasks are often lurking in documents or buried in your inbox. Using JIRA revolutionizes this, organizing a team's tasks and issues, assigning who is doing what and when it needs to be done, and tracking when it's completed.

HP ALM/MF ALM Initialization has failed. Contact your system administrator.

Failure details:

ALM-Platform-Loader components has not been initialized as expected, URL property hasn't been set. Initialization aborted.

Resolution: 

Close all the browsers and select Internet Explorer as “run as administrator” and then try to login into project. It will help to resolve the issue. 

If it is not working, then try this:

Uninstall the ALM from your local system.

• Go to the share drive location path to get the ALMUninstaller setup file or software center, it contains ALMUnistaller application, 
• Run the client uninstaller setup and select "Full Cleanup" (close all the browser windows before continuing)
• Once the uninstallation done, restart your system
• Open IE as “run as administrator” and Launch HP ALM  URL (EX: http://localhost:8080/qcbin/ )
• Click on Tools -> HP ALM Client Registration -> Register HP ALM
• Once client installed, then download HP ALM Connectivity from the tools.
• Then close all the browser once and login to your ALM project.

How to login HP ALM tool

How to start ALM:
Step #1: To start ALM type the address http://[<:port number="">8080]/qcbin
Step #2: Click “Application LifeCycle Management” in the below window.


                 

Step #3: Enter the user name and password. “Authenticate “button gets activated. Click on it. The Domain and Project fields get activated. Depending on your login credentials you have access to certain projects. (This information is set by your ALM Admin).

         


Step #4: Choose the Domain and Project as required and click “Login”. Once you are logged in, ALM window opens up and displays the module in which you were working last.

1.Domain is nothing but a logical division of departments for your organization. Example: Banking, Retail, Health Care etc.
2.Projects are the different teams working within the domain. For example in a Retail project, they could be working on the front end store Point of sale app or the back end inventory module.
The Domain and Project information is set by the ALM Admin.
